Where is the marketing potential in Google Wave?

Share/Save/Bookmark

OK. We get it! Google Wave is coming and it's going to fundamentally change the way we communicate. Marketing people like us have been through all of this before right? Think MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and the rest.

It's not that we question the impact that Google Wave could have on the marketing opportunities we develop. It's just that, until the world's most anticipated collaborative communications tool comes out of beta and goes public, there's not much we can do right? Well actually...

Introducing the Google Wave marketing workshop: care to join us?

What if an exceptionally enthusiastic group of inquisitive marketing experts started to debate the possibilities of Google Wave now, while the techsperts are still fine tuning under the hood? Maybe a few developers could chip in with some thoughts on how the creative ideas we dream up would actually work in Wave: some of them may even point us towards the best new apps and extensions coming out of Wave's beta testing. Perhaps some adWords or SEO gurus might be good enough to point out some flaws in our thinking and even save us time and expense when we actually roll out our Wave marcomms tactics for real, later this year. Even better, what if this group of inquisitive marketing experts actually used a Wave as their platform to explore and debate?

This January we're starting a Wave of our own, and we're inviting you to join in too. We're not sure what we're getting into but we do know that the fastest way to properly ascertain the marketing potential of Google Wave is to jump in early and take the new system out for a spin.

Wanna join us?

To start us up the nice folks at Google have given us some Wave accounts to dish out: If you love social marketing, want to start using and experimenting with Google Wave and, most of all, have a real interest in helping us dream up the marketing opportunities that Google Wave might be able to support, then we've got a Wave account with your name on it . Just jump to our subscriptions page now and check the box to say you'd like to participate.  (If you do already have a Wave account and want to join in, even better, you can help us get up to speed!)
